Job summary

Moat House Care Home in Leicestershire is seeking a Kitchen Assistant on a bank contract to support the kitchen team in delivering nutritious, varied meals for residents. You will assist with food preparation, meal service, baking and washing up, while ensuring stock is rotated and deliveries are stored properly.

You will work closely with the Chef Manager or Chef, upholding high standards of hygiene, safety and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous catering or kitchen experience is essential; care home experience desirable.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
• Knowledge of food preparation, stock control and stock rotation.
• Good understanding of food hygiene, Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.
• Ability to prepare food, support meal service and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
• Reliable, organized and practical with good attention to detail.
• Committed to delivering an excellent dining experience for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, meal service and baking, plus washing up.
• Receive and store deliveries, rotate stock and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is clean and safe, report maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and follow safety procedures.
