Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join Elstree View Care Home in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. You will support the catering function, help prepare meals, and maintain high standards of hygiene in a busy residential kitchen.

Applicants should hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, have awareness of Health and Safety, and be able to work flexibly in a team while delivering compassionate care to residents. DBS check will be arranged.

Qualifications

• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including moving and handling, fire safety, COSHH.
• Able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen with physical effort.
• Demonstrate initiative and a flexible, supportive approach to teamwork.
• Caring attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

• Support catering function in food preparation and cleanliness.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and safe food handling.
• Contribute to ordering and stock control for kitchen supplies.
