Job description

Swissport UK&I are looking for enthusiastic team members to join our Cargo team based at Aberdeen Airport. As a multi-functional Cargo Agent you will organize warehouse and storage facilities and arrange warehouse handling equipment and load/unload air cargo. Provide clerical support to the cargo function, including customs clearance, cash invoicing, basic reception duties and occasional support to other areas in the warehouse. You will maintain the required safety and quality standards as well as comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and company policies.

Please note this job is 60 percent clerical based and 40 percent warehouse based . So this is ideal for someone who likes a bit of variety in their work.

Responsibilities

Shift work to include some weekend work

Day to day you will be responsible for:

• Loading and unloading air cargo onto vehicles and storage area
• Preparing and palletize cargo as needed
• Ensuring paperwork related to the cargo is correct
• Assuring proper handling and delivery of cargo and operation of related equipment
• Following Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations
• Delivering air cargo to appropriate recipient if required
• Providing special handling of live animals as required
• Driving and/or operate specialist equipment which may include vans, fork lift trucks, cargo dollies/trailers.
• Offloading trucks.
• Reporting all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor/manager
• Complying with all relevant legislation and airport authority and carrier security requirements
• Complying with Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
• Maintaining the highest standards of safety and security at all times
• Basic Customs Clearance Process
• Cash Invoicing
• Acceptance of high value goods such as radioactive goods, live animals or dangerous cargo.
• Reception duties including but not limited to greeting clients and visitors, answering telephone queries, sorting post, filing etc.
• Complying with all relevant legislation as well as airport authority and carrier security requirements
• Complying with Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
• Operating any necessary machinery
• Additional warehouse duties as required

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need to be or have:

• In possession of at least three GCSE's or equivalent
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays)
• Ability to speak and understand the English language
• Ability to travel to the airport at times where public transport is not available
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Must be IT literate and able to learn airline specific computer systems
• Ability to follow processes and procedures and apply flexible approach when required
• Willingness to work in inclement weather if required
• Able to demonstrate good customer service
• Commitment to continuous improvement
• S elf-motivated and able to work independently
• Able to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift up to 32kg throughout a shift
• Able to work as a team in a fast paced environment
• A full driving licence
• Previous experience working in an aviation environment desirable
