Job summary

Freightliner in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Cargo Handling Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Cargo Handling Yard, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective performance. You will drive HSSE compliance, deliver excellent customer service and coordinate a high-performing team.

Reporting to the leadership team, you will manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and foster continuous improvement across all cargo handling activities while building strong relationships with customers,

Qualifications

• Experience in cargo handling and logistics operations management.
• Ability to interpret budgets and analyse cost performance.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Proven leadership in fast-paced, safety-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day running of Cargo Handling operations.
• Oversee cargo handling safe, efficient movement, storage and handling.
• Ensure resources meet demands and service standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team.
• Drive continuous improvement across performance, service, quality and safety.
• Act as a visible safety leader and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor performance, budgets and KPIs.
• Build relationships with customers, contractors and stakeholders.
