Job summary

Freightliner Ltd is seeking a Cargo Handling Manager in Southampton to lead the cargo yard operations with focus on safety, efficiency and cost control. You will manage personnel, coordinate with customers and contractors, and drive performance against service standards.

You will oversee budgeting, resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a positive safety culture across the yard.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of cargo handling, terminal, yard or logistics operations.
• Experience interpreting profit and loss and managing budgets.
• Experience designing and implementing process improvements in operations.
• Strong written and spoken communication for reports and presentations.
• Ability to motivate and engage teams in safety-critical environments.
• Customer service and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism with safety as a core value.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day Cargo Handling operations in Southampton.
• Oversee safe, efficient movement, storage and handling of cargo.
• Ensure adequate resources to meet service demands and standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team focused on safety and accountability.
• Drive continuous improvement across operations, service and quality.
• Be a visible safety leader ensuring HSSE compliance.
• Monitor budgets and KPIs to meet financial objectives.
• Build relationships with customers, contractors and stakeholders.
• Take action to improve efficiency and control costs.
