Job description

Cardiff Council’s Caretaking Services are looking for a dedicated and motivated Responsive Supervisor for a 6-month secondment. You will lead a team delivering high-quality cleaning and clearance services and play a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments in communal areas of council housing blocks, hostels, and public spaces across the city.

About the job

In this front-line leadership role, you’ll supervise a mobile team of operatives, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety procedures. You'll also coordinate responsive cleaning and clearance tasks, helping to maintain cleanliness and improve living conditions across our housing communities.

What We Are Looking For From You

We’re seeking a practical, hands-on team leader who is passionate about service delivery and community impact. You will need to:

  • Have experience supervising or working in a cleaning or clearance environment, ideally with industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Be a confident communicator with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Be organised and able to manage workloads and respond effectively to service needs.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and community wellbeing.
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence (as the role involves travel across sites).

  • Working Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 3:30pm; Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm
