Job summary

Shire Oak Academy in Walsall is seeking a Caretaker/Site Operative to join the team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee security, maintenance, cleanliness and porterage duties to ensure a safe, well-maintained school site.

The role requires a driving licence, good communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Training and development opportunities are available within The Mercian Trust.

Qualifications

  • Educated to a satisfactory standard with ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
  • Driving Licence (Essential).
  • Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload, while keeping lower priority work up to date.
  • Ability to act on own initiative and deal with unexpected problems.
  • Ability to effect minor repairs.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of the school team.
  • Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of ICT including using the internet and Microsoft Office suite (Desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the security, safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of the site and buildings.
  • Provide porterage of Academy deliveries.
  • Undertake tasks to ensure the maintenance, security and health and safety of the school site (including grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment).

Key responsibilities:
