Job summary

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an FE College in Swansea that is looking for a reliable, organised and practical Caretaker to join their team.

The College is committed to providing safe, secure and well-maintained premises for its students, staff and visitors. As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for a range of general maintenance, security and caretaking duties across the College estate.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in a relevant craft or equivalent experience (desirable).
• Previous experience as a Caretaker (desirable).
• Knowledge of COSHH, Health & Safety and manual handling procedures, or willingness to undertake training.
• A full driving licence and ability to travel between College sites.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and complete tasks in an organised and methodical manner.
• Reliable, adaptable and self-motivated approach.
• Good customer care and teamwork skills.
• DBS Update Service or willingness to apply for a new DBS.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance, security and caretaking duties across the College estate.
• Carry out temporary repairs and first-line maintenance.
• Key holder responsibilities and access control.
• Porterage duties and moving equipment as needed.
• Room set-ups for classes and events.
• Monitor facilities and report issues.
• Support emergency evacuation procedures when required.

The College is committed to providing safe, secure and well-maintained premises for its students, staff and visitors.

As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for a range of general maintenance, security and caretaking duties across the College estate. This will include carrying out temporary repairs, key holder responsibilities, porterage, room set-ups, monitoring facilities and supporting emergency evacuation procedures.

The successful Caretaker will have:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant craft or equivalent experience (desirable)

Previous experience working as a Caretaker (desirable)

Knowledge of COSHH, Health & Safety and manual handling procedures, or willingness to undertake relevant training

A full driving licence and ability to travel between College sites

The ability to work independently, use initiative and complete tasks in an organised and methodical manner

A reliable, adaptable and self-motivated approach

Good customer care and teamwork skills

• A valid DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS
