Job description

Job Title: School Caretaker

The Governing Body at Bushfield Road Infant School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and friendly individual for the role of Caretaker. This is a permanent contract starting September 2025.

Hours: 25 hours per week

• Monday – Friday: 7.30am - 9.30am
• 2.30pm – 5.30pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing and maintaining effective caretaking services within the school.
• Basic DIY and maintenance tasks, including handyperson duties.
• Communicating effectively with staff, parents, and children.
• Collaborating with cleaning staff and other team members.
• Making decisions in liaison with the Head Teacher and Business Manager.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience in a caretaking role within a school or similar setting is preferred.
• Skills in basic DIY, maintenance, and handyperson tasks are essential.
• Good communication skills, enthusiasm, proactivity, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A friendly approach to liaising with staff, parents, and children.
