Job summary

Vertas is seeking a dedicated Caretaker at St Swithuns C of E Primary Academy, Retford. The role runs 3:30pm–6:00pm, Monday to Friday, 12.5 hours weekly, year-round, to oversee maintenance and site cleanliness.

You will perform basic repairs, ensure heating and alarms operate correctly, keep safety records, monitor supplies and assist with training and safeguarding commitments. This position requires DBS checks and a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in a caretaking or similar site environment.
• Willingness to attend training on Health and Safety and related areas.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while following procedures.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day to day maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are functioning properly.
• Record basic checks and maintain Health and Safety records.
• Monitor site stocks and undertake cleaning duties.
• Attend required training including Health and Safety; training provided.
• Open and secure premises as required.

About the Role

Based at St Swithuns C of E Primary Academy, Retford, DN226LD you will be working 3:30pm - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, 12.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. You'll play a key role in providing high quality caretaking services to oversee maintenance and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out day to day maintenance and minor repairs.
• Making sure that heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly.
• Carrying out and recording basic checks and maintaining Health and Safety records.
• Monitoring site stocks and undertaking cleaning duties.
• Demonstrating Health and Safety awareness and having a willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety, all training will be provided.
• Opening and securing the premises as required.
