Job summary

The County High School Leftwich in Northwich is seeking a flexible Caretaker to join the site management team on a permanent, part-time basis (Term Time plus 4 weeks). The role covers building maintenance, security, and supervising the cleaning team across the school site.

You will be responsible for keeping the buildings safe and well‑maintained, carrying out minor repairs, acting as a registered key holder, and supporting daily facilities operations in a busy secondary school environment.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy are required.
• Desirable joinery or electrical qualification.
• Understanding of Health & Safety requirements is essential.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the building, games area and outside play areas.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• As a registered key holder, ensure security of the premises and contents.
• Manage the cleaning team and support their activities to maintain standards.

Role: Caretaker

Salary: Grade 3 (SCP 3 - SCP 4) £25,614 - £26,016 (FTE Salary) / £19,297 - £20,044 (Actual Salary)

Contract type: Permanent, Part time (Term Time plus 4 weeks)

Reporting to: Site Manager

Start date: November 2026

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday - 12pm - 6pm (30 hours per week)

About the Role

We are looking for a flexible and adaptable Caretaker to join our hardworking site management team at The County High School Leftwich on a permanent basis.

MAIN

You will be responsible for maintaining the building including the games area and outside play areas, carrying out minor repairs, improvements and general maintenance tasks and as a registered key holder you will be responsible for the security of the premises and its contents. You will manage the cleaning team and support their activities in maintaining the standards of our school.
