Job summary

Surbiton High School is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join our dedicated team, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment across 12 school sites and supporting both day-to-day maintenance and holiday-time refurbishment projects.

You’ll help with safety, opening/closing, minor repairs, grounds upkeep, deliveries, event setup, and coordinating with contractors, contributing to a well-run school estate. This is a permanent, full-time role.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is desirable.
  • Practical skills in general repairs and maintenance.
  • Flexible, can-do attitude with a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Computer literacy; First Aid and machinery training can be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the safety and security of pupils, staff and visitors across all school sites.
  • Assisting with opening and closing procedures, responding to emergencies, and supporting fire safety practices.
  • Carrying out minor repairs, general maintenance, and ensuring the school grounds are clean and well-presented.
  • Helping with deliveries, setting up for school events, and liaising with contractors.
  • Contributing to planned maintenance and refurbishment projects during school holidays.

Salary: Competitive - from £28,645 per annum

Are you a hands-on, proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment? Surbiton High School is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team.

As part of our professional Caretaking Team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our 12 school sites, supporting everything from day-to-day maintenance to larger improvement projects during school holidays. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a vibrant school community where no two days are the same.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Supporting the safety and security of pupils, staff and visitors across all school sites.
