Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a Site Maintenance Assistant / School Caretaker to join a school in the BL9 area of Bury. The role is 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 2:00pm–6:00pm, with a long-term contract.

You will maintain the premises, assist with security, cleaning, minor repairs and safety checks, and work with the site team to keep the environment safe, tidy and presentable. DBS and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaker or facilities roles is advantageous.
• Able to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Proactive with good attention to detail.
• Able to follow health and safety procedures and site instructions.

Responsabilités

• Assist with securing and locking up the school premises.
• Litter picking and emptying external bins.
• Use leaf blower for external areas.
• Grit pathways after 3:30pm to keep areas safe.
• Deactivate fire alarm per procedures.
• Turn off water supply during leaks.
• Carry out minor touch-up painting and decorating.
• Carry out general handyman duties and maintenance.
• Support wider site team to keep environment safe and tidy.

Site Maintenance Assistant / School Caretaker

Location: Bury

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm - 6:00pm

Contract: Long-term opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a reliable, proactive and hands-on Site Maintenance Assistant / School Caretaker to work within a school environment in the BL9 area of Bury.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills who takes pride in keeping premises safe, clean and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with securing and locking up the school premises when required.
• Litter picking and emptying external bins.
• Using a leaf blower to clear car parks, playgrounds and other external areas.
• Gritting pathways and external areas after 3:30pm to ensure they are safe and prepared for the following day.
• Deactivating the fire alarm when required and in line with site procedures and training.
• Turning off the water supply in the event of leaks.
• Carrying out minor touch-up painting and decorating.
• Completing general handyman duties and basic site maintenance.
• Supporting the wider site team to ensure the school environment remains safe, tidy and presentable.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a caretaker, grounds maintenance, facilities or general maintenance role would be advantageous.
• Practical and confident carrying out basic repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Proactive, with a positive attitude and good attention to detail.
• Able to follow health and safety procedures and site instructions.
