Job summary

Callington Community College is seeking a practical maintenance caretaker to join our team. The role involves day-to-day caretaking, security, and facilities management to keep buildings and grounds safe, compliant and well-presented for students, staff and visitors.

You will work closely with the Premises Manager and Operations Team to maintain high standards, manage contractor access and support lettings and events as required. A proactive, reliable approach is essential.

Responsibilities

• Opening, closing and securing school buildings and grounds.
• Carrying out routine inspections and responding to maintenance issues.
• Undertaking general repairs, decorating and basic building maintenance tasks.
• Supporting health and safety compliance and maintaining associated records.
• Managing contractor access and monitoring completed works.
• Supporting cleaning, porterage and site presentation activities.
• Assisting with lettings, school events and occasional minibus-related duties.
• Promoting a positive and professional image of the school and the wider Cornwall Cluster.

The successful candidate will act as a day-to-day maintenance contact for the site, undertaking a range of caretaking, security, maintenance and facilities management duties. Working closely with the Premises Manager and Operations Team, you will help ensure that our buildings and grounds remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose at all times.
