Job summary

WeST is seeking a practical maintenance professional to act as a daily caretaking and facilities contact for a School site in Cornwall. You will work with the Premises Manager and Operations Team to keep buildings and grounds safe, compliant and well-presented for students, staff and visitors.

The ideal candidate has hands-on maintenance experience, a good grasp of health and safety, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues,

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance and repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Open, close and secure buildings and grounds.
• Carry out routine inspections and respond to maintenance issues.
• Undertake general repairs, decorating and basic building tasks.
• Support health and safety compliance and maintain records.
• Manage contractor access and monitor works.
• Assist with cleaning, porterage and site presentation.
• Support lettings, events and minibus duties.
• Promote a positive and professional image of the school and the Cornwall Cluster.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills, strong organisational abilities and a commitment to providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will act as a day-to-day maintenance contact for the site, undertaking a range of caretaking, security, maintenance and facilities management duties. Working closely with the Premises Manager and Operations Team, you will help ensure that our buildings and grounds remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose at all times.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes:

• Opening, closing and securing school buildings and grounds.
• Carrying out routine inspections and responding to maintenance issues.
• Undertaking general repairs, decorating and basic building maintenance tasks.
• Supporting health and safety compliance and maintaining associated records.
• Managing contractor access and monitoring completed works.
• Supporting cleaning, porterage and site presentation activities.
• Assisting with lettings, school events and occasional minibus-related duties.
• Promoting a positive and professional image of the school and the wider Cornwall Cluster.
