Job summary

Shaw Education Trust is looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join our team at Brookhaven in Bury. The role focuses on keeping buildings secure, clean and well-maintained, with afternoon hours (approx. 2:30pm–6:00pm) and flexibility.

You will contribute to a safe, healthy environment supporting our learners and staff. Part-time hours total 17.5 per week; pay aligned with SCP 13-16 (£12,306–£12,698 actual salary and pro rata).

Qualifications

  • Experience in caretaking or facilities management within a school setting.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Willingness to work part-time and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide caretaking support for the school buildings and grounds.
  • Ensure security and maintenance standards are met.
  • Support daily school operations and respond to issues as needed.

Are you passionate about providing a safe environment for children? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for an efficient and motivated Caretaker to join our team! Your role will be to provide efficient and effective caretaking support to the school, including the security and maintenance of the buildings; and to ensure surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards. The working hours for this role are 3.5 hours per day, which would likely be in the afternoon (although we can be flexible with this). An example of working hours could be, 2.30pm - 6pm every day.
