Job summary

Capita plc is seeking an experienced Caretaker/Janitor for a primarily cleaning-focused role at our facilities in the UK. The position may require travel to alternate sites, so a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred.

Duties include full cleaning services, window cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste handling, and staff training during shifts, including weekends where needed. Applicants must have prior maintenance/cleaning experience, basic ICT, electrical and mechanical

Job description

We currently have an opening for an experienced Caretaker/Janitor to join our team. The majority of this role will be cleaning based. Please note you may be required to travel to alternate sites so preferably you will hold a driving license and use of a vehicle. You will also provide a full cleaning service to the whole facility, both reactive and planned.

What you'll be doing:

• Providing a full cleaning service (planned, reactive and specialist) within the whole secure facility as well as offering out of hour's availability for reactive service and providing cover for holidays and sickness at other sites and own (including weekends, Public Holidays).
• Undertake monthly internal and external window and window frame clean.
• Undertake grounds and gardens maintenance, including planting, grass cutting, weeding etc.
• Collect all waste and deposit at specified points within the facility boundary.
• Maintain stock levels of consumables and equipment provided throughout the building e.g. toilet/copier paper and detainee consumables.
• Train others in core caretaking duties/responsibilities and give direction to other members of staff when required.

What we're looking for:

• You will have previous experience in a maintenance/cleaning role.
• Previous experience working within a secure facility.
• Basic ICT, electrical and mechanical skills.
• Hold a current clean driving licence.
• Flexible regarding working hours
• All applicants will go through police vetting which requires you to have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
