Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Caretaker/ Premises Officer to join our FM segment. Based at Tudor Grange Kingshurst Academy in Birmingham, you will work 36 hours per week with hours confirmed and 52 weeks per year.

The role offers an hourly rate of £13.50 and a varied workload including planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, and site set‑ups. A DBS check is required; experience in education settings is advantageous, and you will contribute to a safe, well‑managed school

Responsibilities

• Respond to daily requests and resolve problems from Authority representatives and school users.
• Proactive and flexible handling of general site maintenance and porterage duties.
• Deliver high customer satisfaction through speed and completion rates.
• Develop and manage routine maintenance programs.
• Provide details to enable purchasing of spares via helpdesk.
• Ensure safe storage of spare parts, materials, tools and consumables.
• Report maintenance issues promptly and accurately.
• Provide technical support to others when requested.
• Adhere to health & safety standards and conduct risk/method statements.
• Carry out daily room set-ups and porterage requests.
• Manage the BMS system and monthly reports.
• Provide emergency access and out-of-hours maintenance cover.

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Caretaker/ Premises Officer to join our FM segment of the business. You will be based at Tudor Grange Kingshurst Academy in Birmingham.

Working 36 hours per week and hours to be confirmed and working 52 weeks per year.

Hourly rate £13.50.

Making Possible

In conjunction with common roles the technician will be multi-skilled carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance in line with BAM FM HR, H&S, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures.

Principle Accountabilities

• Responding to daily requests/enquiries, and resolving problems presented by Authority representatives, building users and other BAM FM staff.
• Proactive and flexible approach to general site maintenance issues and porterage duties.
• Deliver a high level of customer satisfaction based on speed of response and completion rates.
• Development and management of ongoing and routine maintenance programs.
• Provide sufficient details to enable accurate purchasing of spares and consumables via the helpdesk.
• Responsible for the safe and secure storage of spare parts, materials, tools and consumables.
• Ensure self-reporting of maintenance issues are reported and dealt with in a timely manner.
• Providing technical support to others when requested.
• Adhere to health & safety standards as per company procedures for external contractors.
• Carry out risk and method statements.
• To carry out daily room set-ups and porterage requests.
• Manage the BMS system and run monthly reports.
• Provide emergency access to the school site and out-of-hours cover for maintenance emergencies.
• Any other duties as required.
