Our client is a music enthusiast and enjoys hearing his Carers sing, as well as watching TV, especially David Attenborough programmes. We seek a positive, caring individual who can work alongside another Carer, providing community access and enabling him to live life to his full potential. If this sounds like a good fit, please get in touch.
W is a 14-year-old male living at home with his mum, stepdad, and younger sibling. He enjoys listening to music on his iPad and watching TV, particularly David Attenborough shows.
He has an acquired brain injury from birth, is non-verbal, has four-limb cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. W uses a wheelchair full-time, with hoists at home.
He can eat orally but uses a PEG feed for fluids and medication. Occasionally, the Carer will need to cook for W. Full personal care is required, and training will be provided.
This is a live-in bank position, requiring you to stay in our client's home during shifts.
Experience working with children is essential, especially with complex care needs, although training can be provided if you have worked with children without such needs. Patience, calmness, and empathy are vital, as W can become frustrated and distressed, shouting or throwing his arms around.
The family has a pet dog; you should be comfortable working around animals and have no allergies.
You will need to be a driver over 21 (for insurance purposes), able to drive an automatic adapted car, and willing to take W out on trips and medical visits. Own transportation is necessary due to limited public transport access near W's home.
As W requires 2:1 community access, you will work with another Carer or Mum in this role.
GBP15.00 per hour for shifts from 06:00 to 23:00.
GBP12.21 per hour for sleeping nights, with GBP25 for undisturbed night shifts.
This is a bank hours, live-in role for the entire 13-week school holidays, with flexible availability. Some flexibility to cover annual leave and absences is advantageous.

A criminal conviction may not necessarily prevent employment. An enhanced DBS check is required, and the environment is non-smoking at all times.
