Care Dorset Limited is recruiting for a 35-hour Care Assistant at Weymouth Connect Day Centre (Acorns), a specialist day respite service for older adults with complex needs. The role involves hands-on personal care, mobility assistance, and supporting daily activities in a person-centred way.
You will work as part of a supportive team to promote dignity, independence and wellbeing, with opportunities for training and development and a rewarding daily impact.
Are you a caring and compassionate person looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference every day?
We are recruiting for a 35-hour Care Assistant position at Weymouth Connect Day Centre (Acorns), a specialist day respite service supporting older adults with complex and long-term health conditions, including dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke-related disabilities, acquired brain injuries, palliative care needs, Hodgkinson disease, and advanced cognitive impairment.
Our service enables people to remain living independently in their own homes for longer by providing high-quality, person-centred support in a safe and welcoming environment. Just as importantly, the service provides valuable respite for families and carers, helping them continue to support their loved ones.
This role involves a significant amount of personal care and candidates must be comfortable providing hands-on support throughout the day. You will be supporting people with their personal care needs, mobility, transfers, comfort, wellbeing, and food and drink, while promoting dignity, choice, independence, and quality of life at all times. Regular use of hoists and moving and handling equipment is required, therefore applicants should be physically fit, active, and able to undertake a role that can be demanding at times.
Working as part of a supportive team, you will build positive relationships with the people you support, empowering them to remain as independent as possible and enabling them to take part in a range of meaningful activities. These include quizzes, games, baking, arts and crafts, music, reminiscence activities, and social opportunities designed to promote wellbeing, confidence, and connection with others.
We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable, patient, and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for supporting older people.
If you enjoy helping people achieve the best possible quality of life, value person-centred care, and are happy undertaking a physically active role with a high level of personal care, we would love to hear from you.
This is a busy but highly rewarding opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to people's lives every day.
