Job summary

Wakefield Council seeks self-motivated support workers to provide care to adults with learning disabilities in their own homes. You must hold a valid driving license and support daily living activities.

You will work as part of a team or independently within community settings, helping with meals, personal care, medications, and developing care plans with tenants. Hybrid working options may apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current legislation and guidance in learning disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work as part of a team or independently.
• Drive to promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Desire to achieve NVQ 3 in Care.

Responsibilities

• Support people with learning disabilities in their own homes to live as independently as possible.
• Work as part of a team or independently in community settings.
• Encourage daily living skills including cooking and household tasks.
• Provide practical, personal and emotional support, including intimate personal care.
• Administer medications in line with policy and procedures.
