Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council in Northampton is hiring a Care and Support Worker to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, including those living with dementia. You will work with a dedicated team to promote independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing in a warm, welcoming environment.

Roles are permanent, 21, 33, or 36 hours per week on a rota across 7.5-hour shifts between 7:45am and 8:00pm, with alternate weekends and bank holidays.

What will you be doing?

As a Care and Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to our residents. Supporting older people, including those living with dementia, you will help promote independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing in a warm and welcoming environment.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will support residents with their daily routines, including personal care, mobility, mealtimes, and social activities. You will build positive relationships with residents and their families, encourage meaningful engagement, monitor changes in wellbeing, and contribute to creating a safe, comfortable, and homely environment.

Based at our purpose-built care home in Northampton, we provide both long-term residential care and short-term respite care, supporting residents to live fulfilling lives while receiving the care they need.

We currently have permanent opportunities available for 21, 33, or 36 hours per week. These roles are worked on a rota basis across 7.5-hour shifts between 7:45am and 8:00pm, including alternate weekends and bank holidays where required. Flexible working patterns are available depending on the needs of the service.

About You

You are a kind, compassionate, and reliable individual who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of older people. Whether you already have experience in care or are looking to start a rewarding career in the sector, we will provide the training and support you need to succeed.

You will have a caring and empathetic approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with residents, their families, and colleagues. You'll be a team player who can also work independently, using your initiative to provide high-quality, person-centred support that promotes dignity, choice, and independence.

Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential. Above all, we are looking for individuals who share our values, have a positive attitude, and are committed to delivering outstanding care. Flexibility is important, as the role involves working a rota pattern, including alternate weekends and bank holidays where required.
