Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking a Positive Engagement Officer to support children in care and care leavers aged 16 to 25 in moving into education, training and employment. The role involves practical support, raising aspirations and removing barriers through collaboration with young people, carers, schools, colleges and partner agencies.

As this involves regulated activity with children, an enhanced DBS check with the Children’s Barred List is required.

Responsibilities

• Help children in care and care leavers aged 16 to 25 access education, training and employment
• Provide practical support to young people
• Raise aspirations and help overcome barriers to learning and employment
• Work closely with young people, carers, schools, colleges and partner agencies
• Support young people to build independence and reach their potential
