Job summary

Northumberland County Council’s Virtual School is seeking an Education Support Officer to work with post-16 care-experienced young people, including NEETs, to explore opportunities and engage with education, training and employment. The role involves lone working in the community and at homes, building relationships quickly and removing barriers to EET.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people in education or training contexts.
• Ability to work with care teams to develop Personal Education Plans (PEPs) within statutory timescales.
• Experience with SEND or mental health needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work with post-16 care-experienced young people, including NEETs, to progress into education, training or employment.
• Support a smaller caseload of young people in EET and the designated teachers who support them.
• Represent the Virtual School at multi-agency meetings as required.
