Job summary

Prestwick Care in the North East of England is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant to support the catering team by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness and helping with basic food preparation.

You will work with the chefs, follow hygiene standards, and ensure equipment and serveries are stocked and clean. The role requires good communication, teamwork, and a satisfactory DBS check. Full training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Good, friendly communication skills.
• Able to work within a close team.
• Knowledge / experience of health and safety legislation.
• Flexible in approach to working rota.
• Must have impeccable standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
• Applicants must already be authorised to work in the United Kingdom; the employer is not able to provide new work authorisation.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Chefs, carrying out delegated duties which will include food & vegetable preparation.
• Ensure all serveries are stocked with appropriate supplies and kept clean.
• Collect dirty crockery and utensils from floors and ensure dishes are washed.
• Clean all equipment used by cook including food trolleys.
• Responsible for cleanliness in the kitchen as it is a high priority, with spillage’s being cleaned up immediately.
• Keeping all work surfaces clean.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
