Job summary

Prestwick Care is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant to join our team in the Newcastle area. The role supports the Head Chef in preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with basic food preparation to ensure high standards of service.

The successful candidate will work as part of a small team, uphold health and safety standards, and participate in training. Applicants must have right to work in the UK and a DBS check is expected.

Qualifications

• Good, friendly communication skills.
• Able to work within a close team.
• Satisfactory DBS check.
• Knowledge / experience of health and safety legislation.
• Flexible in approach to working rota.
• Impeccable standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Carry out delegated duties with Chefs, including food and vegetable preparation.
• Ensure serveries are stocked and kept clean.
• Collect dirty crockery and utensils and ensure dishes are washed.
• Clean all equipment used by cook, including food trolleys.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and clean spills immediately.
• Keep all work surfaces clean.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Wear appropriate clothing as stated in the company handbook.
