Job summary

Pilgrims’ Friend Society is seeking a Maintenance Officer for our residential care home in Hassocks, West Sussex. The role involves practical maintenance, small construction tasks and upkeep of the home and grounds to support residents and staff.

The position requires hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical and carpentry, with a focus on health and safety, fire tests, and staff training. 40 hours per week, with on-call weekends, in a welcoming Christian care setting.

Qualifications

• Must have practical maintenance skills and be comfortable performing basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks.
• Experience maintaining health and safety records and conducting fire tests is desirable.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality maintenance service to residents.
• Carry out general household maintenance across the home.
• Maintain and develop grounds for an attractive living environment.
• Perform routine decoration work to a good standard.
• Carry out small-scale building tasks (fitting and adapting).
• Maintain equipment and appliance maintenance.
• Keep records as required by the manager.
• Attend training and fire/evacuation procedures as required.
