Job summary

Akari Care Limited in Gateshead is seeking a Maintenance Operative who is passionate about improving the lives of older people through practical, hands-on maintenance and repairs at our care home.

You will work with the home manager and maintenance team on decorating, grounds, building repairs, safety, and supplies to keep the home well maintained. An all-round, adaptable approach and respectful interaction with residents are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance within a care or similar environment.
• Hands-on practical skills in building, DIY, cleaning and housekeeping.
• Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Able to perform general plumbing and joinery tasks.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to handle short-notice changes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance in and around the home, including decorating, repairs and safety.
• Engage with residents in a respectful, supportive manner.
• Work with the home Manager and team to maintain high standards.
• Manage supplies and utilities and promote a safe, secure environment.
