Job summary

Kara Healthcare is seeking a Maintenance Person to support our care homes across the East Midlands. You will perform general maintenance, repairs, and safety checks to keep homes safe, comfortable and welcoming for residents, visitors and colleagues.

You'll work with Home Managers and care teams, respond to requests promptly, and maintain accurate records. A practical, organised approach and a flexible attitude are valued in this hands-on role.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities or similar role.
• Good practical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general maintenance and repairs across care homes.
• Responding to maintenance requests and resolving issues promptly.
• Carrying out basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry or decorating work where competent.
• Carrying out regular checks of buildings, equipment and fittings.
• Identifying potential maintenance issues before they become bigger problems.
• Maintaining communal areas, bedrooms, gardens and other areas to a high standard.
• Reporting larger or specialist repairs to external contractors.
