Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a General Manager for Acacia Mews Care Home in Hatfield, bringing strong leadership to a warm, resident-focused team. You will oversee care delivery, staff development, and operational performance to ensure exceptional standards.

You will lead recruitment, budgeting, and regulatory compliance, while fostering a compassionate culture that values residents, relatives, and the wider care ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of experience in a similar care environment.
• Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent.
• Excellent leadership and management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and be competent in IT.
• Adaptive and flexible to cover responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care with person-centred approach; ensure residents receive care based on best practice.
• Recruitment, retention, and development of staff within the Home.
• Act as focal point for contact with residents, relatives, visitors, and health/social care professionals.
• Ensure safe staffing levels are reviewed and maintained according to occupancy and dependency.
• Provide ongoing inspirational leadership and management to the staff team.
• Ensure costs are managed and monitored within budgetary controls by reviewing stock.

Other Responsibilities Will Include

• Ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality care, person centred care and ensuring residents receive care based on best practice.
• Being responsible for the ongoing recruitment, retention, and development of staff within the Home.
• Acting as a focal point for contact with residents, their relatives, and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in resident’s wellbeing.
• Ensuring safe staffing levels are reviewed and maintained in accordance with both occupancy and dependency.
• Providing on-going inspirational leadership and management to the staff team.
• Ensuring costs are well managed and maintained within budgetary controls, by reviewing regularly and monitoring stock.
