Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Maintenance Operative to keep the home and grounds well maintained and functional. You will perform routine maintenance, basic repairs, and decor to high standards, supporting residents with room setup and ensuring facilities run smoothly.

The role requires a year of maintenance experience or a trade qualification, a valid driving licence, and awareness of health and safety procedures. DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year in general maintenance or as a handy person.
• Professional trade qualification desirable.
• Knowledge of health and safety principles relevant to maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs (electrical, plumbing, joinery, building) inside and outside the home.
• Support new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
• Ensure routine re-decoration to maintain standards in the home.
• Advise on supplies and quality of items, and arrange replacements as needed.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency service and participate in on-call rota.
