Job summary

Excelcare Holdings in Cambridge is looking for an experienced Cook to join Primrose Croft Care Home. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents, plan weekly menus, and work with the Home Manager to manage stock within budget.

The role is 28 hours per week, Monday to Sunday with alternate weekends, 7am–2pm. It offers 28 days holiday including bank holidays, on-site parking, DBS paid by Excelcare, and opportunities for training and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience of cooking for large numbers.
• NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality.
• 2 years' experience in a catering environment.
• 12 months experience in managing a kitchen.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
• Schedule weekly meal menus, paying attention to dietary requirements.
• Work with the Home Manager to order stock within budget.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals on meal plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain quality assurance systems in the kitchen.
• Undertake supervision of other kitchen team members.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH and contamination guidelines.
• Promote independence, choice, dignity and respect for residents.
