Job summary

Bank House Care Home in Bury is seeking a Cook to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for up to 34 residents, respecting dietary needs and cultural preferences. You will uphold food hygiene, manage stock, and work with the care team to promote wellbeing at mealtimes.

The role requires prior cooking or catering experience, a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, and knowledge of food safety regulations. A supportive, resident-centered dining experience is central to the role, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience in cooking or catering role is essential.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is essential.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health and safety regulations is essential.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals including special diets is essential.
• Residential care or healthcare setting experience is desirable.
• Menu planning and stock control experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals for up to 34 residents.
• Follow planned menus and meet individual dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Store, prepare and serve food in line with food safety regulations.
• Complete food safety checks and maintain accurate records.
• Order food supplies, manage stock, and reduce waste.
• Keep kitchen equipment clean and report faults.
• Work with the care team to support residents' nutritional needs.
• Provide a positive dining experience respecting residents' preferences.
• Support kitchen assistants when required.
• Follow health and safety, fire safety, and COSHH procedures.
• Attend mandatory training and promote person-centred care.
