Job summary

Kingsley Healthcare is seeking an Activities Coordinator for our care home. You will design and run a varied programme of arts, theatre, music and events to enrich residents' wellbeing and social life.

Part-time 24 hours per week, you will collaborate with Home Manager and staff, support residents with mobility needs, and lead volunteers to create inclusive activities.

A relevant qualification in leisure, lifestyle, hospitality or event management is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in a relevant field (e.g. leisure, lifestyle, hospitality or event management) is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills, creativity and ability to engage elderly residents.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building with residents, families and staff.
  • Ability to lead group activities and manage volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate activities to promote residents' wellbeing, independence and social interaction.
  • Organise events, outings and celebrations tailored to residents' interests and abilities.
  • Support residents’ individual needs and provide one-to-one companionship where needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and assessments in care plans.
  • Collaborate with care staff and Home Manager to ensure activities are safe and inclusive.

About the role

As an Activities Coordinator, you will ensure all our residents enjoy a stimulating, fulfilling and happy lifestyle. You will use your experience in the arts, theatre, music, hospitality and event hosting to create and implement a wide variety of daily activities and programmes for our residents to enjoy that also encourage wellbeing, socialisation and harmony throughout our care home.

Part Time - 24 hours per week

If you have previous experience as a Lifestyle Coordinator, Activities Coordinator or a similar role in a care, community, leisure, hospitality or event management environment, come and join our family in our care home.

Reports to: Home Manager/ Regional Hospitality & Lifestyle Manager

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate activities to provide a varied, engaging programme that promotes residents’ wellbeing, independence and social interaction.
  • Organise events and outings, including celebrations, birthdays and group activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
  • Support residents’ individual needs by encouraging hobbies, assisting those with limited mobility or disabilities, and providing one-to-one companionship.
  • Maintain accurate records by documenting activities, completing social care assessments and recording observations in residents’ care plans.
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with care staff, residents, relatives and the Home Manager to ensure activities are safe, inclusive and well-coordinated.
Skills and attributes
  • Strong organisational skills, creativity, and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with residents, staff, and families.
  • Knowledge of and experience in theatre, art, music, hospitality, and event hosting.
  • Ability to lead group activities and manage volunteers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A high level of empathy and an understanding of the needs of elderly and disabled residents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and schedules.
Education and qualification
  • A formal qualification in a relevant field, e.g. leisure, lifestyle, hospitality or event management, is an advantage.
