Job summary

Sandstone Care Group is hiring a compassionate Care Assistant for the Days team at Birkdale Tower Care Home in Southport, UK. You will deliver person-centred care, support with personal care, mobility and daily living activities, and work across a supportive team to maintain a safe, homely environment.

The role involves varied shifts (8am–8pm) and training, with a focus on dignity and respect for residents. Sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care environment (residential/home/healthcare) is preferred.
• Experience supporting people with personal care, mobility, dementia or daily living activities is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills; reliable and compassionate.

Responsibilities

• Delivering person‑centred care in line with individual care plans and residents’ personal preferences.
• Supporting with all aspects of personal care, including washing, dressing, oral care, continence support and grooming.
• Assisting with mobility using equipment (hoists, stand aids, wheelchairs) and following safe moving & handling practices.
• Helping residents with daily living activities, such as meals, hydration, social engagement and routines.
• Promoting independence and supporting residents to do as much as they safely can.
• Building positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues to create a warm environment.
• Monitoring wellbeing and reporting changes to nurses or senior staff.
• Maintaining accurate care records and daily notes (electronic where used).
• Supporting activities to enhance wellbeing and quality of life (one-to-one and group).
• Following safeguarding, health & safety and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe home.

• £13.58per hour
• 44 hours (4 shifts), 33 hours (3 shifts) or 22 hours (2 shifts)per week available
• Shifts: 8am-8pm

Birkdale Tower Care Home, situated in the heart of Birkdale, Southport, is a beautifully restored landmark known for its luxurious environment and exceptional, person‑centred care. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated care assistants to join our Days team and help us continue delivering outstanding care.

As a Care Assistant on Days, your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering person‑centred care in line with individual care plans and residents’ personal preferences
• Supporting with all aspects of personal care, including washing, dressing, oral care, continence support and grooming
• Assisting with mobility, using appropriate equipment (hoists, stand aids, wheelchairs) and following safe moving & handling practices
• Helping residents with daily living activities, such as meals, hydration, social engagement and maintaining routines
• Promoting independence, encouraging residents to do as much as they safely can and supporting confidence-building
• Building positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues to create a warm, supportive environment
• Monitoring residents’ wellbeing, including observing changes in physical or emotional health and reporting promptly to nurses or senior staff
• Maintaining accurate, detailed care records, including electronic documentation and daily notes
• Supporting meaningful activities, both one‑to‑one and group-based, to enhance wellbeing and quality of life
• Following safeguarding, health & safety and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe home environment
• Working collaboratively with the wider care, clinical and housekeeping teams to ensure excellent overall care
• Ensuring dignity, compassion and respect in every interaction

We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience in a care environment, whether in residential care, home care or healthcare support. If you have experience supporting people with personal care, mobility, dementia, or daily living activities — we want to hear from you.
