Brendoncare Alton is a charity-led care home in Alton providing high-quality nursing, dementia, residential respite and end-of-life care. The team values family-like warmth, professionalism and ongoing training.

The role is for Care Assistants on day shifts with 24 and 36 hour contracts. Participants receive a weekend uplift of 10% and benefits including free meals on shift, paid breaks and an enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

• NVQ/QCF 2 in Health & Social Care preferred but not required.
• Training provided for care experience.
• Strong communication, teamwork, reliability and commitment to caring for older people.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents with person-centred approach.
• Offer additional support when residents are unwell or at end of life.
• Act as a Key-worker for a number of residents.
• Assist nurses with writing and reviewing care plans using personal knowledge of residents.
• Document care given, note changes and report to shift supervisor.
• Support and advise residents' families, maintaining confidentiality.
• Collaborate with Activities Team to run group and 1:1 activities for residents.
• Liaise with GP, Social Services, Occupational Therapist and other agencies as needed.

Who are you?

We are seeking Care Assistants who shares our passion for providing the best possible care for our residents and who can demonstrate professionalism and energy in the home.

We are looking for somebody who:

• Supports our commitment to providing the best possible care for our residents and our ability to make them feel like family within a loving home. We need you to be like minded in this approach, valuing the small things which are important to each of our residents.
• We’d love you to be NVQ/QCF 2 qualified in Health & Social Care, but that is not a deal breaker. Ideally you will have had some care experience but this is not essential as we provide lots of training. The key to us is that you share our values.
• In addition, you need to possess good communication skills, be a team player, be reliable and committed and have a natural affinity to older people.

What will I be doing?

• Providing personal care to clients which is person centred and respects individual choices
• Providing additional care and support as required when a client is unwell or towards end of life
• Acting as a Key-worker to a number of clients
• Using personal knowledge and experience of working with those individuals to support the nurses in writing and reviewing care plans
• Documenting care given, recording any changes and reporting these to the person in charge of the shift
• Providing support and advice to residents’ families and friends, keeping them informed at an appropriate level with due regard to the adherence of confidentiality
• Working with the Activities Team to develop group and 1:1 activities that will be engaging and of interest to the residents
• Liaising with other agencies as required in the interests of the resident for example; GP, Social Services, Occupational Therapist, etc.
