Job summary

Comfort Call Limited is recruiting Care Assistants to support service users across Washington. You will deliver person-centered homecare, assist with daily living activities, and provide companionship to help clients live safely and independently at home.

Role offers full-time and part-time shifts, competitive pay (£13.55/hour) plus 30p per mile, and paid training. No visa sponsorship; travel between local clients is required.

We're currently recruiting Care Assistants across some of Sunderlands most vibrant and diverse communities. Thanks to rapid expansion, we are actively hiring for:

  • Washington-We have wonderful small team with plenty of referrals ready to be accepted. With a primary contract with the local authority and another local authority that send us referrals, we have around 4 new referral each week!

Local Work, Local ClientsWe aim to match our Care Professionals to clients within their local area wherever possible, helping you spend less time travelling and more time making a difference.

Competitive Pay

We believe great work deserves great pay. You will be paid

  • Monday–Sunday:£13.55 per hour plus 30p per mile. Shift pay - Paid for the entirety of your shift, not just call time.

Our services operate 7 days a week. We are currently looking for staff to cover a variety of full-time and part-time shift patterns, including:

  • Earlies - 7am - 3pm

  • Tea & Bed - 3pm-10pm

  • Weekend: Rota basis

About the Roles & Specific Packages

You’ll play a vital role in supporting our service users to live independently, with dignity and confidence. Because we provide highly tailored, person-centred care, we are currently welcoming applications from both male and female care professionals to cover new referrals.

(Please note: Where specific client packages require a male or female carer for personal care, this is an occupational requirement exempt under the Equality Act 2010).

Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Care Professional, you’ll provide essential care and support in the homes of our clients, following personalised care plans that put dignity and respect at the heart of everything you do.

You’ll help with:

  • Supporting with personal care– bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming with the utmost dignity

  • Assisting with medication– preparation and safe administration

  • Helping with mobility– using aids/equipment safely and supporting rehabilitation after hospital stays

  • Preparing meals/snacksand offering mealtime support

  • Carrying out light domestic duties– laundry, making beds, household tasks

  • Offering companionshipand building meaningful relationships

What Else You’ll Help With

  • Companionship– conversations, activities, outings

  • Social Inclusion– encouraging participation in hobbies, interests, and community activities

  • Promoting Independence– ensuring dignity and choice are at the forefront of your care

  • Medication Management– collecting prescriptions, reminders, safe administration

  • Nutrition & Mealtimes– cooking nutritious meals, considering dietary needs

  • Housekeeping– light cleaning, laundry, tidying

  • Mobility Assistance– transfers, walking support, use of aids

  • Health Monitoring– observing and reporting changes in condition

  • Emotional Support– empathy, reassurance, and a listening ear

  • Documentation– accurate record keeping

  • Safety & Emergency Response– creating safe environments, acting quickly when needed

  • Collaboration– working closely with colleagues, professionals, and families

Qualifications

What You’ll Need (Besides a Cape and Superpowers!)

Hold onto your hats — ideally, you’ll have at least 6 months of social care experience to join our merry band of care crusaders!

But here’s the truth: what matters most to us is your heart of gold and your ability to sprinkle kindness wherever you go. You’ll need to be as resilient as a rubber band and as eager to learn as a curious kitten. Don’t worry — we’ll help you level up your skills and knowledge as part of our close-knit (and delightfully quirky) team.

While experience is a bonus, we’re really looking for people who:
