Job description

About The Job

Salary: £24,404 - £24,790 a year pro rata

Hours per week: 30

Contract type: Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting others to live fulfilling and independent lives? We’re seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to join our team and help create a safe, supportive environment for older people with learning disabilities. Your role will focus on empowering individuals to achieve their maximum independence, freedom, and choice.

You’ll provide comprehensive personal care tailored to each person’s physical, emotional, and social needs, as outlined in their Care & Support Plan. Working collaboratively with a team, you’ll ensure high-quality, compassionate care is delivered every step of the way.

This role offers flexibility and variety, as you’ll be based at a primary location while also supporting additional bases within the borough when needed. If you’re caring, adaptable, and committed to making a real difference in people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you!

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About You

Are you looking for a meaningful role where you can help individuals live with independence, dignity, and choice? We are seeking a Care Assistant to provide dedicated support to individuals, meeting their physical, emotional, and social needs in a compassionate and respectful way.

To excel in this role, you’ll need strong communication skills to interact effectively with people, carers, and staff. You should be capable of maintaining accurate and confidential records, contributing to assessments, and advocating for those in your care. Assisting senior team members with medication administration is also an important part of the role.

You’ll work as part of a supportive team, demonstrating the ability to identify and address discrimination in service delivery or the workplace. A commitment to personal development is essential, and we encourage attendance at relevant training courses. An NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Care or equivalent and knowledge of care skills are required.

Flexibility is key, as the role may involve traveling across the borough and adapting to unforeseen circumstances. You should also be comfortable with lifting, moving, and handling tasks using appropriate aids and have the ability to train others in manual handling techniques.

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English

If you’re passionate about providing exceptional care and confident in communicating fluently with the public, we’d love for you to join our team. Together, let’s make a meaningful difference.

Application Process

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.

On occasions, we may close a vacancy early due to a very high number of applications being received.

We offer a range of excellent staff benefits which include:

  • Buying annual leave scheme: buy up to 20 days additional annual leave
