Job summary

Advantage Healthcare Limited is seeking a dedicated carer to support a sociable child with complex medical needs in the UK. You will provide specialist care, assist with daily living tasks, and engage in a variety of social and sensory activities including water play, arts and crafts, and outings.

You will be supported by the London branch with supervision, ongoing training, and paid induction. Full DBS coverage, career progression, and family-friendly policies are included.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a complex care setting.
• Moving and handling experience.
• Tracheostomy & PEG feeding care experience.
• Experience with ventilated child care.
• Experience with suctioning.
• Experience with Makaton or alternative communication methods.
• Driver required due to location.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist care for a child with complex medical needs.
• Support daily living tasks and light domestic activities.
• Take part in a range of social and sensory activities (messy/water play, outdoor activities, arts and crafts).
• Attend discos and other social events as part of engagement.
• Follow an individualised care plan with planned clinical support.

What you’ll do

Join a dedicated care team supporting a delightful and sociable child to reach his full potential.

You will provide specialist care for a child with complex medical needs, supporting daily living, light domestic tasks, and a range of social and sensory activities, including messy and water play, outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, and attending discos.

Care will be delivered in line with an individualised care plan and includes tracheostomy care, ventilation support, PEG feeding for hydration, and specialist moving and handling due to spinal instability.

You will be fully supported by the Advantage Healthcare London branch, with regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training and clinical support from a registered nurse.

Qualifications

What you’ll need

• Experience working in a complex care setting.
• Experience in moving and handling.
• Experience in tracheostomy & PEG feed care.
• Experience of looking after a ventilated child.
• Experience with suctioning.
• Experience with Makaton or alternative communication methods.
• You will need to be a car driver due to the location.
