Job description

Hours worked from 7am to 8pm will be paid at the basic rate plus one-third of the hourly rate. Sleep-in payments are paid at the National Living Wage rate. The role offers 32 paid annual leave days per year, increasing to 37 days after five years of service.

As a Care Assistant within Adult Services Resources, you will be part of a key team dedicated to empowering individuals we support, including those with long-term health conditions, to take control of their lives and seek opportunities to achieve their full potential in mainstream society.

You will promote social inclusion and provide opportunities for people with disabilities in various community settings. Support service users by enhancing their social and independent living skills in a person-centred manner that aligns with social inclusion principles.

This may involve assisting with daily living skills, personal care, housework, shopping, cooking, attending appointments, administering medication, and maintaining records in support plans.

You will support maintaining regular contact with family and friends, social activities, education, work opportunities, and holidays.

You will be part of a team providing 24-hour support in clients' homes, including single tenancies, group homes, and core and cluster services. The role involves shift work, including days, backshifts, sleepovers, and adherence to the National Care Standards.

You must have or be willing to achieve, within the first registration period, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 6 (or equivalent) to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements.

Duties include all aspects of personal care and the ability to perform moving and handling tasks, including pushing and pulling wheelchairs.

Flexibility is required to accommodate the needs of service users, with work hours including days, evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and wakened nights, including public holidays, Christmas, and New Year.

The successful candidate will work both as part of a team and independently, demonstrating good communication, organizational, workload management, literacy, and IT skills.

Before appointment, you will need to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and register with the SSSC within three months of starting.
