Key Duties for Care Assistant

As a Care Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, following individual care plans and risk assessments.
  • Promote residents independence by supporting their choices, preferences, and daily activities.
  • Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols, including infection control and medication administration.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, encouraging their involvement in decision-making and respecting their privacy and dignity.
  • Assist with meal preparation, adhering to food hygiene standards, and support residents in maintaining a balanced diet.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external agencies to meet residents physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, report incidents or concerns, and maintain clear communication within the team.
  • Support residents in accessing health services and adapting their living environment to meet their individual needs.

Care Assistant Requirements

To succeed in the role of Care Assistant, you will need:

  • A compassionate, team-oriented approach with excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to work proactively with residents who have physical, emotional, or psychological challenges.
  • A commitment to putting residents needs first and promoting the values of respect, dignity, and empowerment.
  • The ability to follow policies, procedures, and care plans diligently.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Care Quality Commission standards and the Social Care Act (2014).
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Previous experience in care is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
