Job summary

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Cambridge is seeking Band 5 ODPs or Registered Nurses with recognised anaesthetic qualification to join our specialised cardiothoracic theatre complex, including six theatres, cath labs and thoracic recovery.

You will assist with pre-operative preparation, equipment and drugs, support the anaesthetic team during surgery and help transfer patients safely to recovery or critical care.

Qualifications

• Professional adult nursing qualification (Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner) to degree level or equivalent OR in-depth diploma plus significant or equivalent experience in similar environment.
• Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council.
• Relevant clinical knowledge in a similar environment acquired through training.

Responsibilities

• Support the patient prior to surgery, preparing equipment and drugs including anaesthetic machines and airway devices.
• Provide essential support between the surgical team and other parts of the operating theatre and hospital.
• Prepare and safely transfer patients to Critical Care or Recovery after anaesthesia.
