Job summary

Amgen in the UK/Ireland affiliate Cambridge is seeking a Therapy Area Head for Cardiometabolic to lead medical strategy across the General Medicine TA, coordinating with Commercial and Value & Access colleagues and representing the UK at Global TA meetings.

You will shape lifecycle strategies, manage medical advisors and MSLs, build external partnerships with clinicians, and guide evidence generation to support product value.

Qualifications

• Medical degree with GMC registration.
• Extensive Medical Affairs leadership experience.
• Proven leadership to build and develop high-performing teams.
• Experience leading medical strategy across product lifecycle including launches.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytics and UK healthcare knowledge.
• Experience in cardiovascular disease, diabetes or obesity in the NHS.
• Ability to navigate complexity in a fast-paced matrix organisation.
• Translate evidence into impactful medical strategies.
• Strong external engagement with healthcare professionals and systems.
• Proven ABPI Medical Signatory.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute TA medical strategies with cross-functional teams.
• Provide lifecycle management oversight across the portfolio.
• Set strategy for scientific engagement with stakeholders.
• Ensure medical insights inform evidence generation and strategy.
• Line manage medical advisors, scientists or MSLs.
• Be a senior member of the BU leadership team, shaping TA priorities.
• Foster a positive workplace culture and cross-functional collaboration.
• Own key KOL relationships.
• Act as country brand ambassador to Global TA teams.
• Strengthen Amgen’s reputation as science-based and patient-focused.
