Job summary

Nuffield Health Oxford Manor Hospital in Oxford is seeking a registered nurse to join the intervention suite as a cath lab scrub nurse supporting consultant cardiologists during device implantations and cardioversions.

You will manage the patient journey from pre-assessment to discharge, work within a small team, and participate in ad hoc shifts across 8am–6pm weekdays and some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with post-registration experience.
• Experience working in a cardiac catheter lab.
• NMC registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist private cardiac service for patients needing device implantation and cardioversions.
• Be involved in the patient journey from pre-assessment to discharge.
• Act as scrub nurse to Consultant Cardiologists.

Job description

Bank post for a cath lab and cardiology nurse in the intervention suite at Nuffield Health's Oxford Manor Hospital. The work centres on scrubbing for consultant cardiologists on pacemaker, CRT and ICD implants and cardioversions, and following each patient from pre-assessment to discharge. Shifts are ad hoc with no fixed weekly hours, covering the department's 8am to 6pm weekday opening and some Saturdays. Applicants need to be a registered nurse with post-registration experience in a cath lab.

What the job involves

• Provide a specialist private cardiac service for patients needing cardiac device implantation and cardioversion
• Be involved in the whole patient journey from pre-assessment to discharge, meeting individual needs
• Act as scrub nurse to Consultant Cardiologists
• Circulate for cases
• Maintain a caring, highly professional standard of nursing for Cath Lab patients
• Work with cardiology ward and recovery staff to admit and prepare patients for procedures
• Ensure appropriate investigations are completed before procedures
• Record documentation accurately
• Carry out pre-assessment outpatient work and patient follow-up
• Support wards and recovery with your expertise
