Job overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced Capital Projects Managerwho will be responsible for the delivery of multiple Capital projects varying in size, nature and complexity ranging from relatively small refurbishment and building services infrastructure and safety improvement works to larger more complex business development projects across the portfolio of buildings.

The post holder will be a specialist in mechanical or electrical project delivery, in accordance with national legislation, latest healthcare guidance and organisational policy.

The post holder will also assist in delivering the wider objectives of the Engineering & Estates Strategy and include undertaking engineering plant facet surveys across the estate to inform our estate wide refurbishment plan.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be competent to deal with a wide range of building, engineering and construction management tasks specialising in Mechanical or Electricalin hospitals and health care premises and managing the provision of a comprehensive and responsive estates service in a multi-organisation environment; primarily for the estates portfolios comprising Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and other local health providers in accordance with Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practice and within budgets allocated.

The post holder will work with the Senior Capital Project Manager in the effective management of services and the development and delivery of the Estates strategic objectives, Capital Plan, operational policies and procedures. This will require an innovative approach and regular contact with the relevant service, ward and locality managers to ensure that fully compliant new builds and refurbishments are carried out across the Estate.

Qualifications
  • The post holder must be qualified to HND/HNC Level or equivalent in an Electrical / Mechanical building services engineering discipline.
  • Continued professional development through post graduation courses, affiliation to professional institutions, seminars and training courses maintaining professional indemnity.
  • The postholder must have a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • The post holder should have a recognised formal management qualification
Experience
  • The post holder must be able to evidence substantial relevant experience of working at a project management level.
  • Evidence of substantial experience of working within a healthcare estates environment as an electrical or mechanical project manager.
Skills
  • Implementation of agreed processes for the production, control and distribution of design information at different project stages.
  • Ability to work successfully across professional organisations and with a multitude of stakeholders, including well developed negotiating, facilitating and influencing skills.
Knowledge
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment, versatility and flexibility in the day to day management of the department and with estate operatives, contractors, specialists and consultants.
  • Acquired working knowledge and understanding of specialist health care design guidance documents, Health Technical Memoranda, Health Building Notes and Firecode
