Job summary

Connected Search Group is seeking a Capital Projects Engineer in Barnsley to lead capital and improvement initiatives from concept to production handover. You will build business cases, develop specifications, and coordinate suppliers to drive efficient deployment of automation on site.

Ideal candidates have an engineering background with practical experience in manufacturing projects, strong Excel skills, and the ability to challenge existing practices.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship background, ideally backed up with HNC, HND or a degree.
• Experience in a manufacturing improvement or projects role with tangible results.
• Mechanical sympathy; understanding how machines behave on a shop floor.
• Strong Excel skills, especially in analysing production data for business cases.
• Experience managing budgets, timelines and contractors.
• Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. automotive) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own capital and improvement projects from concept through to handover into production.
• Build the business case, develop specifications and manage suppliers.
• Oversee FATs and SATs and ensure installation and commissioning are delivered safely and successfully.
• Present proposals to senior leadership and explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
