Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Estates/Capital Projects professional to join the team in Milton Keynes. You will lead the long-term capital programme, develop schemes, and use CAD tools to design and plan improvements across healthcare facilities.

You will chair design groups, provide expert cost and programme advice, and help implement policies to support hospital growth and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Significant appropriate experience and a relevant qualification in the Built Environment.
  • Experience and competency in using CAD for project work is desirable and essential for this post.
  • BricsCAD v17 is used by the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing the Trust's Capital Programme and lead specific projects to implement the programme for patient and staff environments.
  • Commission and lead delegated Capital projects including business case development.
  • Chair project meetings and provide technical input to Steering Groups and Specialist Design Groups.
  • Provide expert specialist construction, programme and cost advice for Trust projects.
  • Engage in knowledge management to adopt successful practices from NHS and non-NHS sources.
  • Collaborate with Head of Projects (Capital) to develop capital management policies and procedures.
  • Provide specialised advice on sustainable design and undertake design audits.

Job description

You will need a significant appropriate experience and hold a relevant qualification in the Built Environment. Experience and competency in using CAD supported by relevant qualifications is considered desirable for this post. The team currently uses BricsCAD v17.   • Assist in the development of the Trust's Capital Programme and lead a number of specific projects in order to implement the programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.
  • Commission and lead delegated Capital projects including work on business case development.
  • Chair a number of project meetings (Steering Groups & Specialist Design Groups) linked to schemes within the programme. Provide the technical input into those Project Group meetings.
  • Provide expert specialist and professional construction, programme and cost advice to in relation to the projects undertaken and more generally throughout the Trust on behalf of the Head of Projects (Capital).
  • Engage in formal proactive knowledge management processes to take successful practices from NHS and non-NHS agencies and utilise them in the development and implementation of the Capital programme.
  • Work with Head of Projects (Capital) to develop and implement capital management policies and procedures for the department.
  • Provide specialist advice on sustainable design issues to healthcare designers and planners. Undertake audits on proposed designs, to ensure they meet the requirements of the organisation.

  • Lead, where delegated in the development of long-term capital plans and procurement strategies many of which are on-going and inter-related.
  • Develop a Programme for delivery of the approved development schemes linked to the Trust's Estate Strategy and Business Plan.
  • Utilise the Computer Aided Design packages in order to design, plan and develop appropriate improvement schemes.
  • Be a key member of the Trust's Estates Team providing information, designs and organising improvement works.
  • Play an active role in drafting and implementing the Estates business plan to achieve Trust business and strategic goals.
    This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified, motivated individual to join our team. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and ability to use your initiative.
