Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic numerate student for a placement year in Huddersfield, joining the Capital Management team. You will learn how a global organization operates and gain exposure to capital expenditure processes and reporting.

The role requires onsite presence for 3 days per week and is intended for Summer 2027 starters. Ideal candidates are working towards a degree in Business or Accounting with finance/process background, proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI knowledge

Qualifications

• - Working towards a Degree in Business or Accounting, ideally with Finance or Business Processes background.
• - Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI knowledge is a plus and training will be provided.
• - Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work well in a team and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Capital Manager to run internal systems for clear understanding of current capital expenditure; coordinate input from functions worldwide.
• Support the Capital Manager to run the capital forecast process and manage capital allocation, risks and exposures.
• Ensure timely reporting of capital status within Cummins CCS and to line leadership.
• Respond to short-notice capital requirements by creating analyses and presentations for stakeholders.
• Work with worldwide finance functions to support project work and administration of capital management systems.
• Understand new business requirements, support improvements and conduct post-investment audits.

We are looking for an enthusiastic numerate Student to join our team specializing in Capital Management in the Cummins Components and Software Business unite in Huddersfield, United Kingdom. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Support the Capital Manager to run internal systems to ensure clear understanding of current capital expenditure, coordinating input from all functions worldwide
• Support the Capital Manager to run the capital forecast process and business functions to manage capital allocation / risks and exposures
• Ensure timely reporting of capital status both within Cummins Components and Software (CCS) and onward line leadership
• Respond to short notice capital requirements (create analysis, reports / presentations for stakeholders)
• Work closely with worldwide finance functions in CCS to support project work and the day-to-day administration of capital management systems
• Understanding new business requirements, support improvement and undertake a post investment audit

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Working towards a Degree in either Business or Accounting ideally with a background in Finance or Business Processes, databases, systems operation and analysis
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. An understanding of Power BI would be advantageous, however full training would be provided.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team and use your initiative and a willingness to take on responsibility
