CK Group is recruiting for a Capillary Electrophoresis QC Scientist on behalf of a medical diagnostic company. This permanent role is based at their site in Gateshead, with Mon-Fri daytime working hours.

The Role

To test the quality control and assay of the V8 and UltraCE product lines, ensuring products are assayed and quality controlled in a timely manner according to specified procedures and under the guidance of the QC Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform scientific tasks to assay and quality control products from the V8 and UltraCE range.
• Organize daily work to meet target turnaround times, considering product urgency.
• Maintain and review V8 and UltraCE assay and QC specifications for accuracy and relevance.
• Ensure timely completion of EQA scheme data and proper documentation of reports.
• Develop knowledge of departmental equipment, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Apply electrophoresis knowledge to support routine assays, quality assurance, and R&D activities.
• Identify and report trends affecting product performance, collaborating on investigations.
• Participate in cross-departmental non-conformance meetings.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Managing Director.

Essential Skills

• BSc in life sciences with 1-2 years laboratory experience.
• Good laboratory practice and a strong background in life sciences.
• Interest and knowledge in electrophoresis techniques.
• Proficiency with internet and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software.
• Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
• Leadership ability to supervise and motivate teams.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
