Capillary Electrophoresis QC Scientist

CK Group is recruiting for a Capillary Electrophoresis QC Scientist on behalf of a medical diagnostic company. This role is based at their site in Gateshead and is a permanent position with Monday to Friday daytime hours.

The Role

Responsible for testing the quality control and assay of the V8 and UltraCE product lines, ensuring products are assayed and quality tested in a timely manner according to established procedures and under the guidance of the QC Manager.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform scientific tasks following protocols to assay and quality control products from the V8 and UltraCE range.
  2. Organize daily work, prioritize tasks based on product urgency and target turnaround times.
  3. Review and update V8 and UltraCE assay and QC specifications to ensure they are current and appropriate.
  4. Ensure timely completion of EQA scheme data and proper review and storage of reports.
  5. Develop and maintain knowledge of departmental equipment, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  6. Apply electrophoresis knowledge to support routine assays, QC, external quality assurance, and R&D activities.
  7. Identify product performance issues, report them, and follow up on investigations.
  8. Participate in cross-departmental non-conformance meetings.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
  • BSc in life sciences with 1-2 years laboratory experience.
  • Good laboratory practice.
  • Strong background in Life Sciences.
  • Interest and knowledge in Electrophoresis.
  • Proficient in internet use and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical software.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
  • Leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills within a team environment.
